The Outsiders, Hintons other novel, is a personal favourite of mine and halfway through this novel i was of the belief that I would be adding it to my favourites pile. The first half of the novel is actually really good. The writing is good, the characters are likable and well developed, the story feels like it is leading to somewhere emotionally worthwhile. It's the ending which prevents this from being 5 stars for me. Normally I try not to be too harsh on endings, but this one felt flat. Im still kinda shaken up because I loved Bryon and Mark as characters and to end the book like that; felt somewhat empty. Its not a fault of the writing, i'm perhaps just not a fan of where the story went.
